Medical and vision insurance covers different conditions. Medical insurance covers eye-related medical issues like:

Dry eyes
Eye pain
Discharge
Headaches
Cataracts
Eye complications from diabetes or high blood pressure

Vision insurance covers routine eye exams, which test for refractive errors and common eye diseases and conditions. Occasionally, some costs associated with new eyewear are also covered—but this coverage depends on your particular plan.
